Located in South Sumatra, Indonesia, this project aims to protect and restore more than 22,200 hectares of high-carbon stock peatland forests, ensuring both carbon avoidance and removal. An average of 1,300,000 tonnes of emission reductions and removals have been generated annually since 2016. The project area is also a biodiversity hotspot with over 100 unique and endangered species, such as the Sun Bear, Rhinoceros and Sumatran Tiger. Furthermore, the project enhances the livelihoods of the local community through job creation, with more than 20% of the locals employed being females. Additionally, more than 200 students now have improved access to education.
