Delta Blue Carbon Auction Participation
From Blue Carbon Market Analysis to Transaction Execution
Indus Delta, Pakistan | October 10, 2024
From Market Analysis to Blue Carbon Transaction Execution
Following its earlier review of the Delta Blue Carbon project and auction mechanism, ASJ participated in the Delta Blue Carbon (V22) carbon credit auction and successfully secured carbon credits, translating market analysis into practical transaction and carbon-asset experience.
Located in Pakistan’s Indus Delta, Delta Blue Carbon covers approximately 350,000 hectares and focuses on large-scale mangrove and wetland restoration. The project aims to remove more than 142 million tonnes of CO₂ over its 2015–2075 project period while restoring approximately 224,000 hectares of mangrove habitat. The Indus Delta is also an ecologically significant region supporting biodiversity and important migratory bird habitats.
Blue carbon refers to carbon captured and stored by coastal and marine ecosystems, including mangroves, seagrass meadows, and salt marshes. Beyond carbon sequestration, these nature-based solutions can generate broader benefits through biodiversity conservation, coastal protection, community resilience, and local economic development. Delta Blue Carbon also contributes to multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals through employment, education, healthcare, and community initiatives.
For ASJ, the transaction represented more than the acquisition of carbon credits. It provided first-hand experience across the lifecycle of a large-scale nature-based carbon project—from project assessment and credit-quality analysis to auction participation and transaction execution—further strengthening ASJ’s practical capabilities in high-integrity carbon markets and nature-based climate solutions.
Delta Blue Carbon
Jinta Populus Euphratica CCER Project Development
