On December 13, 2023, the Taiwan Carbon Credit Digital Economy Development Association (TCDD) hosted the “Carbon Credit Industry — One-Stop” forum at National Chengchi University, bringing together international and local professionals to discuss carbon markets, CBAM, carbon credit quality, and practical market applications.

ASJ Founder Solomon Chang was one of the founding members of TCDD, participating from the association’s early stage in industry dialogue and the development of Taiwan’s emerging carbon market ecosystem. This involvement reflects ASJ’s broader approach to carbon markets—not only participating in international carbon transactions, but also contributing to market development, corporate education, and the connection between global market practices and the needs of Taiwanese enterprises.

The forum featured perspectives from Sylvera’s Asia team, TÜV SÜD, ASJ, and other industry participants, covering independent carbon credit ratings, CBAM, carbon credit quality, and transaction practices. The discussions provided companies with a broader understanding of the evolving global carbon market and its implications for corporate decarbonization strategies.

Connecting Carbon Markets with the Semiconductor Industry

On December 8, 2023, Alchip Technologies celebrated its 20th anniversary, marking an important milestone in the company’s development. ASJ was pleased to support the occasion by providing Verra VCS carbon credits for its carbon-neutrality initiative, translating corporate sustainability commitments into practical climate action.

As a critical part of the global technology supply chain, the semiconductor industry is facing increasing expectations from customers, investors, and supply-chain partners to manage and reduce carbon emissions. The collaboration provided ASJ with an opportunity to connect international carbon-market resources with real corporate requirements, building practical experience in carbon credit selection, sourcing, and corporate carbon-neutrality applications.

For ASJ, the initiative represented more than support for a single event. It demonstrated the practical connection between carbon markets and the technology sector. On September 12, 2023, ASJ and its partner hosted an ESG forum for nearly 60 corporate and investment professionals, focusing on how companies can integrate ESG considerations into strategic planning while exploring the practical application of carbon credits and international carbon markets.

ASJ shared insights into the voluntary carbon market ecosystem, including major standards such as Verra VCS and Gold Standard, as well as the development of carbon marketplaces such as Singapore’s Climate Impact X (CIX). The discussion covered carbon emissions assessment, carbon credit selection, trading mechanisms, and the use of carbon-market solutions in corporate decarbonization strategies.

The forum represented an early step in ASJ’s development of practical carbon-market capabilities, connecting corporate sustainability needs with international environmental markets and building experience across carbon credit sourcing, transactions, and corporate applications.

From ESG Concepts to Carbon Market Practice

On July 1, 2023, ASJ was invited to participate in the University of Toronto Alumni Carbon Credit Workshop in Shanghai, sharing practical experience in ESG, carbon credits, and international carbon markets with alumni and business professionals.

As corporate demand for decarbonization and sustainability solutions continues to grow, carbon markets are increasingly moving from ESG concepts toward practical implementation. ASJ shared perspectives on the fundamentals of carbon credits, developments in international carbon markets, and how companies can incorporate carbon-market solutions into their broader sustainability strategies.
