On January 8, 2025, ASJ participated in a VANTEC Angel Network investment and startup event in Vancouver, engaging with local angel investors and emerging companies while gaining further insight into British Columbia’s early-stage technology and innovation ecosystem.

The event featured startups across healthcare, artificial intelligence (AI), fintech, and sustainability, providing an opportunity to explore their technologies, business models, funding needs, and market potential. Several companies also presented sustainability-focused solutions, including innovations aimed at reducing emissions from maritime transportation.

For ASJ, the event provided more than exposure to early-stage investment opportunities. It also strengthened connections with Vancouver’s angel investment community, technology startups, and broader innovation ecosystem, while exploring opportunities to connect Canadian innovation with Asian capital, markets, and strategic industry resources.

British Columbia’s supportive environment for innovation and early-stage investment further contributes to Vancouver’s growing role as a hub for technology entrepreneurship and cross-border collaboration.

Exploring the Frontier of Longevity Science & Biotechnology Investment

On February 27, 2025, ASJ was invited to an exclusive breakfast hosted by Maybank Securities Singapore, featuring Dr. David A. Sinclair, Chairman and Co-Founder of Life Biosciences, and members of the Life Biosciences team. The discussion provided valuable insights into the evolving fields of longevity science, cellular rejuvenation, and potential therapies for age-related diseases.

A Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Sinclair is widely known for his research into the biology of aging and epigenetics. His research has also explored the potential of partial epigenetic reprogramming to restore cellular and tissue function, with Life Biosciences working to translate advances in aging biology into therapeutic applications. On February 28, 2025, ASJ was invited to attend the Maybank Securities Singapore Prime Brokerage Breakfast Club, featuring internationally recognized technology analyst Dan Ives. The session provided an opportunity to hear his perspectives on artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, autonomous driving, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and the evolving landscape of global technology leaders.

Investing in Iris Dynamics: Advancing Smart Automation & Robotics

In April 2025, ASJ participated in a new equity financing round of Iris Dynamics, a Canadian technology company developing advanced motion-control solutions for automation, robotics, and precision applications.

Iris Dynamics integrates sensing, logic control, and drive technologies into intelligent linear actuator systems, enabling a higher level of integration across sensing, control, data feedback, and precision motion. Its technology has potential applications across industrial automation, robotics, autonomous systems, and medical devices.

For ASJ, the investment represents more than exposure to a single hardware product. It reflects our interest in the broader field of smart motion control and intelligent automation—technologies that enable machines and robotic systems to sense, respond, and interact more precisely with the physical world.

As AI, robotics, and advanced manufacturing continue to converge, these capabilities are becoming increasingly important components of next-generation automation. The investment also reflects ASJ's continued interest in Canadian innovation and in connecting Canadian technologies with Asian manufacturing capabilities, supply chains, capital, and market opportunities.

Global Asset Allocation & Asia-Pacific Investment Trends

On June 11, 2025, ASJ participated in the DWS 2025 H2 Global Investment Outlook in Taipei, engaging with asset-management and financial-market professionals on the evolving global macroeconomic environment, capital markets, and investment allocation trends.

The forum examined key themes including multi-asset diversification, opportunities across Asia and Japan, and the growing role of infrastructure and real assets within global investment portfolios.

For ASJ, the forum provided an opportunity not only to gain perspectives on global market cycles and institutional asset allocation, but also to better understand how international asset managers are approaching energy transition, infrastructure, and capital allocation across Asia, while continuing to strengthen engagement with global financial institutions and Taiwan's investment community.

ASEAN Integration, AI & the Next Growth Cycle

On July 1, 2025, ASJ participated in Invest ASEAN 2025, jointly hosted by Maybank and Bursa Malaysia. Centered on the theme of advancing ASEAN integration through Malaysia’s economic resilience, the forum brought together approximately 1,500 institutional representatives with US$13.6 trillion in assets under management, alongside 71 listed companies from ASEAN and India representing approximately US$383 billion in market capitalization.

The forum examined the next phase of economic and capital-market development across Malaysia and ASEAN. Key discussions included Malaysia’s macroeconomic resilience and fiscal consolidation, together with opportunities arising from renewable energy, semiconductors, and digital transformation. The program also explored how regional collaboration and stronger domestic consumption could further advance ASEAN economic integration.

Technology was another major theme. As the global AI supercycle accelerates, semiconductors, AI chips, and related hardware infrastructure remain important areas of growth, with Malaysia positioned to play an increasingly significant role within the global technology supply chain. At the same time, shifting global supply chains and the China+1 strategy are creating new opportunities for manufacturing, investment, and cross-border capital flows across ASEAN.

For ASJ, Invest ASEAN 2025 provided an important institutional perspective on ASEAN’s structural growth story. From AI, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure to energy transition, supply-chain realignment, and cross-border capital, these themes closely align with ASJ’s continuing focus on investment and strategic partnerships across Asia.

Investing in CereCura Nanotherapeutics: Advancing mRNA Therapeutics for Neurological Diseases

In July 2025, ASJ participated in the seed financing round of CereCura Nanotherapeutics, a Canadian biotechnology company developing next-generation therapeutic and drug-delivery technologies for neurological diseases.

CereCura is developing an mRNA-based therapeutic platform using lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) designed to deliver therapeutic mRNA to specific cells in the brain, enabling the production of proteins with potential disease-modifying effects and opening new approaches to treating disorders of the central nervous system.

The company’s lead program focuses on Gaucher Disease Types 2 and 3, rare neurodegenerative conditions with significant unmet medical needs. Its platform also has the potential to expand into broader central nervous system indications, including Parkinson’s disease.

For ASJ, the investment represents more than exposure to a single therapeutic program. It reflects our interest in the convergence of mRNA technology, advanced drug delivery, and neuroscience as a potential platform for next-generation therapeutics. Overcoming the challenges of targeted delivery to the central nervous system could create opportunities for applications across a broader range of neurological diseases.

The investment also extends ASJ’s engagement with Canada’s life-sciences and frontier-technology ecosystem, while exploring longer-term opportunities to connect Canadian innovation with Asian capital, industry capabilities, and markets.

From Racing Engineering to Future Mobility & Industrial Innovation

On July 17, 2025, ASJ participated in “Driving the Future: Trend Insights × Racing Spirit,” an industry networking event co-hosted by CDIB Capital and the NTU Racing Team at the CDIB Holdings headquarters in Taipei.

The event combined an exhibition of NTU’s electric race car with discussions on electric vehicle technology, future mobility, and advanced manufacturing, demonstrating how a university engineering team integrates electrical systems, batteries, controls, materials, and system engineering into a high-performance electric racing platform.

The discussion also extended to the changing global industrial environment, including developments in U.S. trade and tariff policies and the challenges and opportunities that global supply-chain realignment may create for Taiwanese companies.
